The "Mumbai Indians" franchise is the most expensive in the league. Reliance Industries paid a heftly $111.9 million dollars. Led by their Icon player Sachin Tendulkar and Sri Lankan Sanath Jayusuriya at the top of the order the Mumbai team will look to make the most of the early feild restrictions. Their bowling strengths include Harbahjan Singh, Lasith Malinga, Abhishek Nayar and Shaun Pollock. Mumbai's two Sri Lankan fast bowlers, Malinga and Fernando, are currently injured and look set to miss the start of the IPL, Although the recent addition of Ashish Nehra will boost their bowling.

Aside from the masterful Tendulkar this side is bursting with attacking batsmen and smart bowlers. But, Shaun Pollock the experienced all rounder has the ability to change the game with the bat and the ball. His big hitting will no doubt prove useful in Mumbai's lower order. The big bonus for Mumbai is Pollock's years of experience which will compliment Tendulkar's captaincy as well as providing an excellent option to both open and close the bowling.
